Vitec® 4000 is a liquid antiscalant developed to keep high concentrations of scaling formers in solution at low dosing rates. Vitec® 4000 prevents silica scaling at higher concentrations and allows the operation of membrane systems with high yields. In addition, it allows iron (Fe) concentrations in the concentrate flow of membrane systems up to 4 mg/l. It also acts as a dispersant. The exact dosage amounts can be determined with the Avista Advisor calculation program.
Vitec® 4000 achieves optimum performance when injected downstream of the multimedia filter and upstream of the candle filter. Product is injected. Sufficient mixing should be achieved.
Vitec® 4000 should not be diluted more than 1:10. Thus, an optimal effect of the bacteriostatic agent contained in the Vitec® 4000 is achieved.
The typical dosing range is between 2 and 5 ppm. The optimum quantity can be determined with the Avista Advisor computer program. Both over- and underdosing can cause unnecessary fouling/scaling of the membrane system. The Avista customer service provides individual support for the compilation of dosage instructions.
Packaging and storage:
Vitec® 4000 is available in 23 kg canister, 230 kg drum and 1100 kg IBC container. The product should be protected from frost during storage as the active ingredient would precipitate under extreme temperatures. Heating of the product and subsequent stirring brings the active ingredient back into solution.

Protects the membranes against silicate scaling up to a saturation of 250 mg/l of SiO2 in the concentrate flow
Prevents RO membrane scaling caused by the following substances:
+ Calcium carbonate (CaCO3)
– Langelier Saturation Index (LSI) < 2.5
– CCPP > 900
+ Calcium sulphate (CaSO4)
– up to 3.5 times oversaturation
+ Barium sulphate (BaSO4)
– up to 105 times oversaturation
+ Strontium sulphate (SrSO4)
– up to 20 times oversaturation
+ Calcium fluoride (CaF)
– up to 1000 times oversaturation
Dispersion properties reduce colloids and suspended solids fouling on the membrane surfaces.
Complex formation with heavy metals, thus heavy metal fouling reduced
Compatible with all standard RO membranes
Working range from pH 2 to 12.
